The Beaux-Arts Chair

For his Beaux-Arts rattan chair, he created a right-angled backrest whose weave is available in several color ranges, two of which are used to make decorative tassels around the dark rattan legs. A refined detail that gives this Beaux-Arts rattan chair all its elegance and originality.

Designed by

Philippe Model

Philippe Model began his professional career as an opera singer. From that time, he retained a passion for costumes, the stage, and the perfect color. Before he turned twenty, he was designing accessories for the most prestigious fashion houses; it was his hats that established his reputation—he was a hat designer for Hermès—and the title of “Meilleur Artisan de France” (Best Craftsman of France) cemented it. He founded his own fashion house in 1981.

Since then, he has never had to choose between disciplines: footwear, interior design, his collections of paintings and wallpapers, his books published by Le Chêne, and hand-painted murals on the walls of remarkable residences. A long-time fixture in the heart of the Parisian fashion scene, he is one of the most dynamic designers of his generation.

He came to rattan later in life, as a colorist, and found in it a medium perfectly suited to him: since 2015, it has become the focus of his work. For Maison Louis Drucker, he has designed the most extensive collection in our catalog—chairs that are unmistakably Parisian.
