Around fifty fiber colors, more than fifty weaving patterns, or a jacquard composed for your venue alone — how hospitality projects turn a bistro chair into a signature.
Can a restaurant or hotel order rattan bistro chairs in its own colors and weave? Yes — and at Maison Louis Drucker it is not a special request. Every chair is made to order and woven by hand, strand by strand, one by one. For your establishment, you can choose a weave from our selection of more than fifty weaving patterns; our weavers will create it thread by thread in the colors of your choice — around fifty fiber colors, glossy or satin. Or go one step further and compose an exclusive jacquard that no other address will carry.
This guide covers the creative range: the palette, the weaves, the exclusive option, and the models that carry them. For the specification process itself — dimensions, durability requirements, lead times — see Specifying Rattan Seating and our overview of rattan seating for hospitality and contract projects.
The Rattan Chair as Part of the Venue's Identity
The rattan chair serves as an integral component of the venue's brand identity. On a Parisian terrace, the chairs face the street. They are the first thing a passer-by reads, before the awning and before the menu. That is why the great addresses do not share a palette: each landmark café chose its own colors and its own weave, and the chair became part of how the house is recognized — Café de Flore and Les Deux Magots are the classic Parisian examples, and the same is true far beyond Paris, from El Nacional in Barcelona to the Château Marmont in Hollywood.
The same logic serves any hospitality project. A dining room can match the chairs to its architecture; a restaurant group can define one weave and carry it across every site; a hotel can run one pattern from lobby to pool deck in two frame versions. The chair stops being a purchased object and becomes part of the design.
The Palette: Around Fifty Colors, Dyed in the Mass
The color of a Drucker chair comes from its weaving fibers. Two ranges cover nearly every direction a designer can take:
- Rilsan® glossy fiber — around thirty colors. Produced entirely in France by Arkema, resistant to UV.
- Raucord® satin fiber — some twenty tones, with a matte, natural-looking finish, rated from −50 °C to +70 °C (−58 °F to 158 °F).
Both are dyed in the mass: the color runs through the fiber. It is indelible, does not heat in the sun, and resists shocks and humidity — which is why a terrace can keep its exact identity season after season. A natural rattan fiber is also available for classic interiors, and the semi-round rattan ring edging that finishes the seat comes in 10 colors of its own.
The full range, color by color, is on the colors of Drucker.
More Than Fifty Weaves, From Basic to Masterpiece
The pattern is the second half of the signature. The atelier works with more than fifty weaves, organized in five families — Basic, Classic, Prestige, Exception and Masterpiece — from a plain two-tone seat to compositions that take a full day of work. Weaving a single chair takes 3 to 30 hours by hand, depending on the pattern: each strand is stapled, stretched and stapled again, one by one. On aluminum frames, the strands are knotted by hand instead — the knots are invisible.
Because colors and patterns combine freely, the practical range is enormous: the same checkerboard changes character completely from one palette to another. Browse the patterns on the weaves of Drucker.
The Exclusive Jacquard: A Weave That Belongs to the Venue
For projects that want more than a selection, the atelier composes an exclusive jacquard: a combination of colors and weaving pattern created for the project, with the designer, and reserved for it. The result is seating that cannot be bought anywhere else — the strongest position a venue's terrace can hold.
This is the route designer Philippe Model took with the atelier for his 2026 collections: his own colorways, his own weave, developed on woven samples until the combination was right.
It is also the clearest line between a hand-woven chair and a copy. A machine-made chair offers imposed colors and a pattern sold by the meter — the same roll of material, cut and fitted, venue after venue. A hand-woven chair is designed first and woven afterwards, strand by strand, by hand, for one client. Exclusivity is not an upgrade; it is how the craft works.
Customizable Models for High-End Venues
Which models carry a custom weave best? All of them — every model in the collection is woven to order in the full palette. For high-end restaurants and hotels, four are specified most often:
| Model | Character | Custom angle |
|---|---|---|
| Le Fouquet's | The Champs-Élysées classic — 5 kg (11 lb), stackable, semi-outdoor | Its checkerboard reads differently in every palette |
| Chatelet | Restaurant and café chair with a woven welt | Made to the venue's own choice of colors and weave |
| Vendôme | Enveloping weave that completely conceals the staples | A refined base for Prestige and Exception patterns |
| Parisienne | Round-medallion bistro chair, light and stackable | The medallion takes two-tone work beautifully |
Beyond these, silhouettes range from the simplest lines to models with a welt, a mirliton weave or a medallion back — and a chair has no armrests; with armrests, it becomes an armchair, available in the same colors and weaves.
Frames and Finishes
The custom logic extends to the frame. Natural rattan comes in light Manille or dark Malacca, for interiors and covered terraces. For furniture that lives outside year-round, the aluminum frame comes in nine standard tones, from Black Matt to Cream Nude, available from a single piece. Custom RAL tones are possible from 200 pieces, once a sample is validated. Both frames carry the same weaves, so a custom identity survives the indoor/outdoor split.
From Idea to Production
Three steps take a project from the first idea to production:
- Color swatches ship quickly by post — colors are never validated on screen.
- A 15 cm (6 in) woven square shows the exact color-and-pattern combination at real scale, for advanced projects.
- Production by hand in the atelier — 4 to 15 weeks made-to-order, depending on model, weave and quantity.
Every custom weave is documented in the atelier, so a second venue or a replacement batch is woven to match the original exactly — the re-order logic is detailed in Specifying Rattan Seating.
