Christian Liaigre

Christian Liaigre

Born in 1943, Christian Liaigre studied first at the Beaux-Arts and then at the Arts Décoratifs, but only designed his first furniture collection — for Nobilis — in 1981. In 1985 he opened his first store in Paris and in 1990 designed the interiors of the Hôtel Montalembert. From 1997 onwards he opened stores in New York — the Mercier Hotel in Soho — followed by London, Chicago, Bangkok, Saint Barthélemy, and Kuala Lumpur, where he also created an art foundation. His latest Paris address is on rue de Verneuil. The Wall Street Journal described him as a "great minimalist".
He had prestigious clients: Larry Gagosian, Marina Abramovic, Bryan Adams, François Nars, Calvin Klein, Rupert Murdoch, Carole Bouquet and others. His creations highlight the beauty of materials and the purity of lines.
Christian Liaigre designed pieces produced by Maison Drucker for the restaurant of the Hôtel Lutetia in Paris.
