Mikiya Kobayashi
Mikiya Kobayashi, born in Tokyo in 1981, graduated from Musashino Art University in Tokyo in 2004. In 2005, he worked for FIELD FOUR DESIGN OFFICE, one of the largest interior design firms in Japan. In 2006, he founded his studio in Tokyo and began designing wooden products.
Since his beginnings, Mikiya Kobayashi's creative process has focused on seeking uniqueness within minimal forms. Thanks to his fondness for natural resources, wood has become one of the main materials used in his projects over the years. Kobayashi has always been closely connected to his cultural heritage, linking tradition with new concepts, processes and manufacturing technologies. Among his more recent projects: a sock collection for LEMNOS, a radio/speaker for LEXON (France), a bistro chair for MAISON DRUCKER (France), a fabric collection for AQUACLEAN (Spain) and a stool for DIABLA (Spain). In 2018, he opened his second studio in Valencia (Spain) to better connect with his growing number of European clients. He develops the lifestyle brand IMPLEMENTS, with the desire to deliver products that enrich people's lives.
The Masséna armchair, with its compact dimensions, designed by Mikiya Kobayashi was made in 2018 by the workshops of MAISON DRUCKER. It comes in both rattan and aluminium versions. Light, comfortable and modern, it suits indoor or outdoor professional use.
