Pierre Gonalons
Pierre Gonalons, designer and interior architect, is based in Paris. Born in Lyon to a family with Italian cultural roots, he developed an early sensitivity to French heritage and the history of art. A graduate of the École Camondo, Pierre Gonalons quickly imposed his singular vision of design and space. He founded his design studio at the age of 23 and designs for prestigious houses — Lalique, Chloé, Pierre Frey, Nina Ricci, Pernod, Weston… alongside his self-published collections and limited editions for international galleries. As artistic director of historic Italian design publisher Paradisoterrestre, he also designs for many transalpine clients — Ceramica Bardelli, Masiero,... His creations sit between simplicity and the spectacular, prioritising the expression of traditional materials and the artisanal know-how he sees as a source of inspiration. He defends a minimal design to which he transmits references to the decorative arts and Pop culture. Since 2016, interior projects have followed in succession for Pierre Gonalons, and it is in the tradition of the Grand Ensembliers that he designs every detail of his decors. A boutique, bar and restaurant will open in 2020–2021. Joining the AD magazine top 100 designers in 2019, he took part in the AD Intérieurs exhibition that same year. Maison Drucker built for him a delightful medallion-back chair shaped like a heart.
