François Champsaur
A graduate of the École supérieure des beaux-arts de Marseille and of the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs in Paris, François Champsaur founded his agency in 1996. His earliest projects were already set in iconic venues, both in the capital and in the provinces.
His professional identity claims no defined style — precisely so as to challenge himself with every new project and surprise himself. François Champsaur likes to give meaning to his craft by drawing on the know-how of human-made objects. He pairs his talent with that of Ravel pottery (170 years of existence in Aubagne) by becoming their designer for a contemporary line. He uses materials in reference to a place — like the cement tiles found in the décor of Le Poulpe bistro, along with its waxed plaster wall... Quality materials give power to spaces, and he chooses them naturally sourced, recyclable and reusable, for the energy they exude.
François Champsaur admits he took immense pleasure in working with Maison Drucker's craftspeople — passionate, in love with their craft, eager to preserve their know-how while remaining curious and attentive to what is proposed to them. The Cardinal armchair is his creation.
