Olivia Putman, in tribute to her mother Andrée Putman, designed the Rive Droite rattan chair, drawing inspiration from the Rive Gauche, a creation commissioned and crafted by Maison Louis Drucker. Andrée Putman envisioned the fusion of materials considered “rich” and “poor” while adhering to her design philosophy: to create pieces that are beautiful, simple, robust, and rich in history. The creations of Maison Louis Drucker, including those of Olivia or Renée Putman, perfectly embody these principles, with even more pronounced simplicity than other models.

Furniture with a rattan structure is classified as “semi-outdoor,” meaning it can be placed outdoors under a shelter that strictly protects it from rain, except near bodies of water (seas, lakes, rivers). For these areas and for full outdoor use, we recommend our “outdoor” ranges with an aluminum or galvanized steel structure.

What is the difference between the choices of finish (elegance, tradition and heavy duty) proposed by Maison Louis Drucker?

Weaving of the seat can be stopped under the seat (elegance), on the side of the seat with a rattan border (traditional) or on the side of the seat with the plastic border (heavy duty)

Is there a difference in quality between the dark rattan (Malacca) and the light rattan (Manila)?

No, the color of the rattan has no influence on its quality. The dark rattan (called Malacca) is the traditional rattan for Parisian terraces.

Is it possible to change the seat height of a chair?

Yes. the standard seat height of 45cm can be lowered down to 38cm or up to 90cm to create a high chair.
