A major project: “SURFACES
The “SURFACES” project explores the creative possibilities offered by our braiding techniques applied to decorative panels. These creations can take a variety of forms: wall coverings, headboards, screens, door panels or modular partitions for different spaces.
The aim? To promote our age-old know-how to future top designers, while placing it in contemporary contexts. The particularity of these panels lies in their less demanding mechanical properties compared with our traditional seats, offering greater freedom of graphic expression. Students can play with the colorful richness of our fibers and the formal expressiveness of the surfaces, while respecting the DNA of our company.

Creative challenges: reconciling tradition and innovation
More than just an academic exercise, this partnership with the Ecole Boulle represents a unique opportunity for Maison Louis Drucker to explore new creative avenues through a youth never short of inspiration, while passing on its exceptional craft heritage. For the students, it’s an immersion in the world of artisanal weaving and a direct confrontation with the constraints and possibilities of a living material.
The challenge for these young designers? Appropriating traditional weaving codes and techniques while reinterpreting them with a resolutely modern vision.
They then identified three main application contexts for their creations:
- Hospitality spaces (cafés, hotels, restaurants), where the emphasis is on modularity to divide open spaces.
- Residential spaces (houses, apartments), with objects adapted to the home.
- Tertiary spaces (offices, coworking spaces), meeting the need for privacy in shared environments.
A rigorous methodology to unleash creativity
The creative process began on February 11, 2025, when the students were immersed in our Venette workshops. This essential visit enabled them to discover our materials, techniques and know-how. The fifteen students, divided into five teams of three, then embarked on an in-depth study of our weaving techniques.
In March, at an intermediate presentation at the École Boulle, each group proposed a dozen graphic principles applied to different panel layouts. Three graphic proposals were then selected by each team for development.
The final presentation will take place in September 2025, and will showcase all the finalized projects. These proposals are not limited to the aesthetic dimension, but also incorporate structural considerations (frame, application of braiding) and contextual considerations (adaptation to specific spaces).
Promising innovations for the future
Through this partnership, Maison Louis Drucker reaffirms its ability to reinvent itself while remaining true to its heritage. Decorative panels represent a natural diversification of our offer, perfectly in line with our expertise in weaving.
The potential applications are many and promising: from acoustic solutions for professional spaces to customizable decorative elements for residential interiors, not to mention modular space dividers for the hospitality sector.
The quality of the projects is such that Maison Louis Drucker has committed to producing a prototype of the best project from each of the five teams. These prototypes will be presented at upcoming trade shows.
At the same time, a collection of projects will be published and posters produced to showcase this collaboration, which is as exceptional in its rarity as it is in its quality.
Combining creative and artisanal excellence
By combining the technical expertise of our craftsmen with the creative freshness of École Boulle students, we demonstrate that tradition and innovation are not antagonistic, but complementary.
The obvious success of this first “SURFACES” project will pave the way for further collaborations with theÉcole Boullearound a variety of themes: objects, techniques, resources, production heritage… These are just some of the future explorations that will continue to promote the excellence of French craftsmanship around the world!
See you at the end of September 2025 to discover the creations resulting from this exceptional collaboration!
